#2 of 15 in Museums in Aix-en-Provence
Musee Granet was opened to the public in 1838, on the property of Saint-Jean-de-Malte. It still shares gardens with the estate of Saint Jean’s church. This mighty structure houses works of art, including paintings by Jean Auguste Dominique and Paul Cezanne, and sculptures depicting pre-Roman settlements north of Aix. • I stayed there after the hotel Caumont and I was not disappointed! The collections of the museums are beautiful and there was an exhibition of painting of an American who lived 1 year in Provence between 1957 and 1958. Do not forget the Chapel, a few hundred meters, which is an integral part of the Musée Granet.

  • I went there in a double stroller and every step of my visit (with sometimes need to be accompanied to borrow specific detours), the staff showed themselves particularly nice and available. The collections are beautiful and the Museum has the right size, neither too large nor too small (I took 1h30 to 2H during the week and taking my time). A visit to AIX!

  • Quite interesting Museum, masterpieces from very different period. Take around one hour to visit. but there is also an other part included in the ticket which is located 5 minutes walk from the main building
  • There are paintings from some very famous French artists. One star off for not putting up English names of paintings. Google translate to rescue.
