If you are a reasonable level of skier, staying locally and conditions permit.... then this is a must do! But to do you MUST hire a guide, have a backpack which can carry your skis and hire crampons..... more »

Wonderful! It is one of the most beautiful and famous glaciers (it is part of the most famous "Mer de glace"..). You can ride on skis, in about 5 hours (better if you have off-piste experience and, perhaps with driving...), starting from the Aiguille of Midi, at 3842 meters high. The route, in the glacier, between incredible views, can end, with good snow, even in Chamonix or using the montenvers train.See original
