Le Regourdou serves as a museum, archeological dig site, and brown bear enclosure devoted to the Neanderthals who once inhabited the area. Discovered in the 1950s by property owner Roger Constant after a sinkhole formed, the site has become a treasure trove for archeologists. Here they reportedly discovered the oldest and most complete Neanderthal skeleton found in Europe, which dates back more than 90,000 years. They've also found a variety of tools and other artifacts, leading to a greater understanding of the early humans who lived here. The site is located about 2.5 hours by bus from Bordeaux. You can see a small archaeological exavation site, small museum and two bears living in bad conditions. Small museum shop and a bar with only.... more »

Trouvé par hasard et nous n'avons pas été déçu. Accueil très chaleureux Guide dynamique et très sympathique Nous avons appris des choses et passé un bon moment. Un petit bémol pour les abords du site qui font un peu désuet ainsi que les enclos des ours mais je leur souhaite de pourvoir évoluer d'avantage. Merci Le couple du nord vienne qui dormait dans un gîte grotte ;-)

Found by chance and we were not disappointed. Very friendly and welcoming guide we learned things and had a good time. A small downside for the surroundings of the site that are a little outdated as well as the pens of the bears but I wish them to develop more. Thank you the couple from the North come who slept in a cave cottage;-)

Magnifique parc, très belle histoire et agréablement raconté par une guide passionnée. Les ours sont super et se qui est encore plus beau c'est de les voir à quelques centimètre de nous. Nous y reviendrons avec grand plaisir ! À voir !
