Marche Maubert, Paris

#67 of 421 in Shopping in Paris
For a traditional Paris food market, take a stroll through Marche Maubert and check out the oldest in the capital. Established in 1547, this market offers the freshest of produce and goods, including cheese, meat, fruit, vegetables, spices, bread, flowers, and more. Clothing and other odds and ends are available as well.

The best time to go is about mid-morning, when the site is bustling with locals bartering and browsing the stalls, and the culture is at its best. Many items are able to be taste tested before buying, and it’s recommended you take a basket or bag to carry your goods. A visit to Marche Maubert represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Paris trip planner to plot your vacation.
