Nestled on top of a granite hill, Golconda Fort, the place that once held the famous Koh-i-noor diamond, overlooks the city of Hyderabad. The historic structure served as the capital of the Qutb Shahi dynasty in the 16th and 17th centuries, before being abandoned. Explore the massive stone ruins, enjoy the panoramic view of the city, or try out the fort’s famed acoustics; a clap from anywhere on the premises can be heard on the highest point of the fortress. Using our international travel planner, Hyderabad attractions like Golconda Fort can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

One of the few very well maintained forts in South India. If you plan to visit the full fort, it will take around 2 hours. Built from the foot to the top of the hill, The fort is very well built and has various sections. There are multiple water ponds inside which shows that large planning was done to ensure the fort is self sufficient. Its a very photogenic location. Highly recommended if you are visiting Hyderabad.
