Tre Cime di Lavaredo or “the three peaks of Lavaredo” measure up at 3 km (1.9 mi) in elevation. They have long represented a border or a battleground: You’ll still find fortifications, man-made caves, and plaques commemorating World War I in this area. Although these mountains are accessible by toll road, you can experience the best views via excursions on foot. If you don’t have much mountaineering experience, consider the circuit around the base of the peaks.     The hike Tre Cime di Lavaredo loop is one of the most iconic hiking trails in the Dolomites. The trail starts just near the parking lot at the Rifugio Auronzo. Firstly you have to take the route 101.....  more »

    Incredible place with amazing views wherever you look. It’s hard to believe the scale of the three chimneys when you get up close to them!

    The hike and the views are absolutely great but so are the some many other places in this area. Personally I would prefer a lesser known hike if I knew how crowded this place is. If you do choose to come do it early in the morning. Traffic up to the parking and through the pay station is mess.
