Le Mura di Ferrara, Ferrara

Must see · Historic Walking Area · Tourist Spot
Built in a triangular shape with sentry towers around the old city's center, Le Mura di Ferrara is standing strong to this day. The ramparts and thick walls are built to resist gunfire. They're topped with turrets where sharp shooters once watched for enemy armies. Inside, paved pathways travel around manicured lawns and the stone foundations of the former town. Enter the fortress using the same gateways that visitors used in the Renaissance: Port of Paola, Port of Angels, or San Giovanni's Port.
