Built in a triangular shape with sentry towers around the old city's center, Le Mura di Ferrara is standing strong to this day. The ramparts and thick walls are built to resist gunfire.     The best thing we did in Ferrara was to hire bikes and ride around the outside of the medieval walls. You can also walk along the top of the walls but I'd recommend riding if you have the time...  more »

    The walls are used by walkers, joggers and there is a bike path that you can use. It's utilized by many bike riders every person in Ferrara rides a bike and while visiting there is plenty of places that hire to tourist a good way to get around
