Vicolo Privato Lavandai is on the banks of the Naviglio near the dockyard. Washerwomen worked at this ancient laundry service until the 1950s, cleaning the townspeople's linens in the canal. You can still see their wooden seats and cement washing slabs. You might stop for dinner next door at Ristorante El Brellin, which is in the old grocery shop that supplied the women with soaps and bleaches.
