One of the oldest buildings in the city, the Gothic Cathedral of Evora (Se Catedral de Evora) forms part of a complex of historical buildings that are on the World Heritage List. This building, the largest medieval cathedral in the country, features two eye-catching towers, each with a different conical spire. The building's cloisters, completed in the 14th century, include marble statues of the four evangelists and a polychrome statue of the Virgin Mary. Take the cloisters' spiral staircase to reach the upper story, which offers unobstructed views of the cathedral complex and the surrounding landscape. After you see the view from the top, descend to the cathedral museum, noted for displaying a 17th century reliquary encrusted with 840 diamonds and 402 rubies. • An interesting place – definitely worth a visit. Outside is much better than inside. The real value of the church is with its roof and cloister. You can climb the right tower and walk on the stone-paved roof. You will enjoy great views of the surrounding landscape – the Évora city, fields on the south, and aqueduct and gentle green hills on the north. The cloister also has a walkable roof. It also has a lovely architecture. The interior of the cathedral is rather dark and over-decorated at places. The treasury is designed for lovers of religious paintings.
  • The rooftop has the best 360° views of Evora. Pretty courtyard. You can skip the museum though. It's a bit creepy and double the basic ticket price.
