Wat Suan Dok, a Royal Temple of the Third Class, remains popular for its stunning architectural beauty and Buddhist university. Photographers flock here, especially at sunset, for fantastic shots of the chedis, or spires, decorated with Buddhas and white mausoleums holding the ashes of the royal family of Chiang Mai. Don't miss the 500-year-old bronze Buddha in the back of the facility. Ask about open times to meet and chat with the monks, who are eager to practice their English with visitors. With our custom trip planner, Chiang Mai attractions like Wat Suan Dok can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

If your in the area. Near Nimmanhaemin Road. Located on a busy road but very peaceful. Quiet. You don't need long. Different from other Wat's.

One of my favorite temples in Chiang Mai. It was located close to where I stayed and so I often made trips over to talk with the monks and do some meditation in the temple. An added bonus is that Pun Pun, a vegetarian restaurant, is located very close to the temple.
This is the only temple I couldn't help giving just 1 grade. The size of temple is big, it's all, nothing special or have value to visit. On entrance of the main building, a woman pushed visitor to buy ticket and try to hide by her body to protect inside of the building from taking photo. I couldn't see this kind of illiberal behavior at any other temples in the world. I'd visit a lot of Thai temples but this is the only experience of narrow-minded temple. No other temple disturb people who were taking just photos without paid entrance like this even if they charge the money to visitors. And they are charging the money only to foreigners with insisting the necessity of maintenance. It's funny. Only foreigner could make harm or wear ? How about the local Thai? Are they? It seemed they'd learned the Buddha's teaching incorrectly likewise churches in South Korea, not for region but for business.
