Get a good sense of President Johnson's character, intellect, and impact on the country at LBJ Presidential Library. The library houses millions of pages of historical documents. As you enter the lobby, the first thing you see is the President's limousine. Start from the top floor by walking through a replica of the Oval Office arranged as it was during Johnson's presidency. See a portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt, LBJ's three television sets, and his many books. Look for the desk on which the president signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965. You can also see significant artifacts from the days surrounding the assassination of JFK. Look for a telephone in a corner to listen to conversations concerning this historic event. Library was fantastic . I set up a meeting with the archivist in advance so I was able to peruse some of the papers. Archivist was enormously helpful. He pulled a number of documents in advance of... more »

My favorite is Lady Bird Johnson's office, so stylish and modern (even though now it is retro). Honestly it is much better than JFK's more »

I have visited this museum several times, sometimes for a short visit and sometimes longer. If you are interested in the LBJ years and his life, this is a must-see. Nice displays of his presidency and earlier years. The museum is on the campus of the University of Texas, with free parking off Red River street. The campus view from outside is also really nice. Inexpensive--as I recall it was $10 or less.

Very informative and interesting museum. It gives good context for LBJ's presidency and highlights his legislative achievements. The material is compelling and illuminating, and all is presented in an intriguing way. Also, there was a nice temporary exhibit on Motown music there that included a few interactive parts. Well worth a visit.
