  You can not actually visit Spider Rock, because it is a sacred place.The story is that on the top of the rock lives Spider Woman and one the other, smaller rock lives her helpers, the crows. They fly....  more »

  I was working for the State of Az in an official capacity back in 1977 and my team was sent to Chinle for an investigation.. While there I had befriended some of the Navajos and asked if I could go.....  more »

  Came here, allured to re-live the experience and scenery from the classic movie McKenna's Gold. I was not disappointed!! There is no gold, but the Golden Ray's of rising sun, the shifting of the long shadoes of towering rocks and formations were enchanting. One can hear the sound of the river 800 feet down below. The view of the canyon from this location is extensive on all the three (two upstream and the downstream branches). The cliff is 700 feet steep drop, so caution needs to be adopted for going to the edge.
