Lovers Key State Park is a protected coastal area that is as romantic as its name. Visit it to find bottlenose dolphins, marsh rabbits, and manatees that play in the shallow waters and marshes. Watch the skies to see an assortment of bird species, including hawks and warblers. The beach is 3 km (2 mi) of white sand, an area good for swimming. Cross over to Black Island for a kayak rental, or rent a bike to use on the paved trails that crisscross the island. Always love this park. While hiking or biking you will see lots of turtles, birds, and even alligators sunning themselves on the distant shores. It is so peaceful. The beach is pristine and beautiful.... more »

This is one of my favorite places to go to when I'm in Florida. I've been going here for years. It has changed over the years but it's a beautiful beach. Unfortunately you are not allowed to swim there anymore. So if you are looking for a somewhere to swim this isn't the place. But I love to walk along the water and pick up shells and it's great for that. It doesn't get crowded, I guess because of the no swimming, but I like that it's not crowded.

We went there in the morning and were able to kayak. The renting process was easy and the lady helping us was very informative. The sights during the kayak trip were gorgeous. We went to the beach after turning in our equipment and enjoyed our time there. There is a concession stand with rentals available but we did not visit the stand. The water felt great and the beach was clean and not crowded.
