Many of the exhibits at Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum focus on the Pearl Harbor attack and World War II. As you enter, see Hangar 37, a former seaplane hangar that survived the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941, and was the first hangar developed for the museum. In Hangar 37, admire an authentic Japanese fighter plane and American bombers, and learn about how America manufactured planes and trained pilots to mobilize for war. Next, visit Hangar 79, another survivor of the attack, which has bullet holes on the windows of its doors. Many contemporary jets, historical helicopters, and civil aircraft are housed in Hangar 79. Beyond Pearl Harbor history, the museum features a short film, photography exhibit, and other materials related to aviation, World War II, and life on the island. What a treasure of artifacts and information about one of the most critical, pivotal times in the history United States of America. Additionally, what an amazing, state of the art museum to visit! Very neat museum to walk around and get a close look at all the airplanes. There is also a children's museum of sorts on your way to the hanger. Be sure to try out the flight simulator if you have kids with you. My daughter thought that was great!
