Home to more than 2,000 animals, Audubon Zoo is named after famed artist and naturalist John James Audubon. The zoo created a name for itself by providing a home for a white tiger and two blue-eyed alligators. During Hurricane Katrina, zoo staff took refuge in the reptile house, which is designed to withstand storms. Despite financial setbacks after the storm, the zoo reopened and added a swamp exhibit with a themed Hurricane Katrina house and a collection of local species. Very Nice zoo, lots of Animals, a few houses closed due to COVID, a lot of rare animals there, including white alligator, friendly staff, social distancing practices in place, overall really fun... more »

Well organized but very very sad vibe, everything was closed (as expected due to COVID) would've been nice to have the food stands open and other activities. The Maya section is very pretty and all... more »

Great time at Boo at the Zoo. A lot of fun for kids - especially children 10 and under. For any special event at the zoo, allow an extra hour to park. Not a lot of organization for parking and it took us 45 minutes. If you are going during regular zoo hours, don't miss the elephants. And be sure to take a stroll through the reptile house! Great place to cool off during hot summer days.

My grandson's third grade class went to the zoo on a field trip today. They had a blast. The grounds are nice and animal enclosures are well done. Some of the attractions we're closed for renovations. We didn't think it was allowed to take in food and drinks, but saw people with them. Might be a good idea to check the website. Overall a good outing.
