Dig your feet into the sand; wade in the calm, clear water; and look for whales and seals offshore at Herring Cove Beach. Purchase food, or bring your own snacks to eat at the picnic tables. The beach has convenient parking nearby, bathrooms and changing rooms, and easy access to nearby bike trails. Lifeguards are on duty, and some beachgoers bring their dogs along. This has to be one of the greatest beaches around. it is very wide and has a decent amount of parking. There is a nice "snack bar", but it's much nicer than you think. It is more of a restaurant with counter service. There is live music there and tons of locals bring their chairs and line the path to listen. When the sun is setting they made a fire on the beach and people were swing dancing. It was a great evening walking the beach and watching the sun set and skipping rocks and collecting the cool ones. There are nice bathroom facilities there as well.

Quaint beach with calm surf. Coarse sand that doesn't stick everywhere. Plenty of parking. We arrived around 430 pm and did not have to pay for parking. There is a well marked bike trail that leads to the northern edge of the Cape. Good spot to enjoy the sunset.
