The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower also called Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Thérèse Church is a historic Roman Catholic church, located in San Antonio, Texas, USA. The church is distinguished as one of 84 in the United States (and one of only four in the state of Texas) bearing the papal designation of "minor basilica." Despite its religious importance it is not the cathedral of the local diocese; that distinction belongs to San Fernando Cathedral. Before you head to San Antonio, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly San Antonio day trip website, to make sure you see all that San Antonio has to offer, including Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower.

Our high school class of 1974 attended mass here for our annual Christmas reunion. This is a beautiful basilica built in 1925; it is one of the gems of San Antonio. You get a sense of spirituality... more »

The shrine is in a rough area. My husband and I were a bit wary as we arrived and saw the run down condition of the church and surrounding area. When we entered the church on a Friday early evening.... more »

ABSOLUTELY amazing. Its beautiful and is a blessing to experience. I was fortunate to have gone with my family from Spring, TX when visiting over the summer from New Hampshire. I loved the painting downstairs, it's a must see. I have posted some pictures of us in front of the painting. Also, there's a nice little giftshop next door that I got some fantastic gifts to bring home for family.

Love visiting this beautiful historic church! I feel I am in another country when I walk inside and take in the wonderful architecture. The staff are nice and friendly. I have stopped by for Mass or just to pray on any given day. Either way, the experience is very positive spiritually. Tip, they also have a basement area(still nicely decorated altar)where you can pray.
