As the only west-facing beach on Sanibel Island, Bowman's Beach is considered to have the best sunset views and is noted for its more adventurous bayou area. Miles of scenic shoreline along this beach are almost completely unobstructed, as this is one of the least-developed, and therefore most naturally beautiful, areas of the island. In addition to beachside activities, you can watch wildlife from the nearby bridge or take a kayak ride. The parking lot for this beach is a 10-minute walk from the beach itself, but many visitors believe this peaceful stretch of paradise is worth the trek. Biked out to this beach from out resort because of some of the reviews. Was a nice beach - very wide and open - but nothing really noteworthy. Walked up and down the beach a bit and saw some shells... more »

The waters of bowman beach are warm and blue like. Its also a good beach for shelling. It was our first time here, there is a $6 toll to cross the bridge onto sanibel island and there is also a fee for parking at the beach. It is convenient as there are bathrooms changing areas and showers to wash away salt water and sand.

The beach is nice, especially if you like shelling. The restrooms and changing stations were great. Parking is a bit far from the beach especially if you are carrying a bunch of beach gear (umbrella, chairs, cooler, etc). The parking rates are high at $5 per hour.
