Founded in 1565 by Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, the city was Spanish Florida's capital for 200 years and the Florida Territory's until 1824. Walk the cobblestone streets and admire the Spanish-style architecture, explore the museum and other exhibits, grab a bite to eat, and shop. Purchase a hop-on-hop-off trolley ticket to get around or go by foot. The price of the ticket includes admission to several points of interest, including the jail, general store, history museum, and a demonstration at the tea house.     the old city offers many shops, bars, restaurants and fun on the ancient narrow streets. many venues offer music and there are tours of a distillery, historical area and others.  more »

    There weren't lots of people there because of the winter season and covid. We liked walking around the old city. A trip there is well worth it.  more »
