Featuring a picturesque gorge cut through by Glen Creek and 19 different waterfalls, Watkins Glen State Park offers outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, and fishing. Three different trails provide access to the 120 m (400 ft) deep gorge and surrounding forests. Some even wind their way under waterfalls. Comfortable campsites have amenities including showers, a food store, organized recreation programs and tours, and an Olympic-sized pool for both day and overnight visitors. The park is open year round, but this is not true for all facilities. Be sure to check the website ahead of time when planning a visit. Was a little nervous as we’ve been to cheesy light shows before but this was well worth the money! There is something for everyone to see and it really shows how much work was put into it. The... more »

Great small state park to hike/walk along. Starting from the southern entrance, you'll have a steady incline for the first mile in the gorge and will hike up ~5 floors worth of steps to come out at the northern entrance. I wouldn't say this is strenuous if you are in shape and easy enough for older people to finish so it's a pretty great group trail. When we got to the northern entrance, there was no shuttle for those looking to take a ride back. I'd recommend taking either the Southern Rim Trail or the Indian Trail back if you walked up through the gorge. It was a nice change of scenery so you don't need to walk back through the same trail.

Wow, what a tremendous experience. The whole park is gorgeous with falls and caverns. So much to see out the outset of the Gorge Trail. It's a 75 minute walk along the Gorge Trail which is well paved (one way). Expect crowds! A marvelous experience. If you walk from the main entrance to the upper entrance, there's a shuttle that will take you back for $5 that comes every 20-30 minutes.
