The last commissioned work by Otto Wagner, the church is considered one of the most important Art Nouveau churches in the world. Wagner incorporated numerous features related to the church's function within the asylum, such as limited sharp edges, rounded corners, and the separation of the priest's area from that of the patients. Look up at the gold dome, covered with 2 kg (4.4 lbs) of gold plate over the copper roof during a structural renovation. Private tours in English can be booked in advance, but the church has limited hours, so call ahead to confirm.
