Musical Instruments Museum (MIM), Brussels

My wife and I spent 3 very enjoyable hours here, and would have spent longer if they hadn't been closing! The included audio guide is really interesting, as while it doesn't offer explanations of the instruments, it does provide many sound clips of them being played, usually as part of a song. Tip: look carefully at the listing for each instrument, as some also have videos of them being played. Most of the signs are in Dutch, French, and English. Also note that the museum has air conditioning, which was so nice on a hot August day! There were some closures of parts of the museum for renovation (I believe the cafe was unfortunately closed), so check the web site for status before you go.

Unbelievably good, great for kids. You receive a tablet that you input the audio numbers of the particular instrument and can listen to it on headphones. I thought the whole museum was on the first floor I walked through but it’s on three or four floors. The building is incredible, this museum should be on the list of must see things to do in Bruxells. My pictures don’t do it justice, as I was to involved in the music itself
