Create an itinerary including René Magritte Museum
Housed in the home where he lived for 24 years, René Magritte Museum paints a picture of the life of the Belgian surrealist painter. Rene Magritte, world-renowned for his surrealist painting, lived in this house from 1930 to 1950. Walk the same halls as did the celebrated painter, and see where he created roughly half of his works, including many of his masterpieces. On five floors, the museum displays 200 of Magritte's paintings, including "Scheherazade," "The Return," and "The Empire of Light." See beyond Magritte's paintings as you explore the ground floor, decorated as it would have looked when the artist occupied the home. • Extensive collection, well laid out displays. Would have liked a better guide to exhibit as there was very little once inside. NOTE - cannot reach without using stairs!

  • This is René Magritte’s home in Jette, not to be confused with the the large Magritte museum in the centre of Brussels. As such, it’s a small and intimate place to visit and is focused on Magritte’s life. When we visited, we were the only people there. It’s an interesting place, with objects from Magritte’s life, his paintings (and replicas), and also includes a modern art exhibition in the neighbouring building. If you have mobility problems, this is not the place to visit as you need to climb up and down several narrow staircases.
  • Two locations of Rene Magritte museums, one is part of the loyal art museum and one is his house. The house presents more original scenes and inspiration of his works, especially the neighborhood. But most works are shown at the art museum where his lifetime is shwon chronologically alongside his works.
