Copenhagen Stock Exchange is famous for its prominent spire of four dragons with intertwined tails topped by three golden crowns, symbolizing the union of the Nordic countries. King Christian IV commissioned the building in the early 17th century, with the ambition to turn Copenhagen into a financial and trade center. Legend has it that the 60 m (197 ft) high dragon spire saved the building from enemy attacks, as well as many fires that have damaged neighboring buildings. You can view the outside, but the building is not open to the public aside from scheduled events, such as dinners, conferences, and parties.
