Knuthenborg Safaripark serves as home to nearly 1,000 animals of 40 different species including antelopes, camels, giraffes, rhinoceroses, zebras, and the endangered species of Arctic wolf. The history of the park dates back to 1870, when owner Count Eggert C. Knuthlaid created a park for his collection of rare botanical plants. One of his descendants started to fill the park with free-roaming exotic creatures in 1969. Today the park houses an arboretum, an aviary, a tiger enclosure, attractive picnic areas, and a nature and a water playground for children. Most of the park is bicycle-friendly, except the savannah, which is accessible only by car or safari bus. In some areas visitors can touch the animals. Buy some traditional African crafts or locally produced foods at the souvenir shop. Make Knuthenborg Safaripark a part of your Maribo vacation plans using our Maribo travel planner.

  • For a safari park they have few animals. Have been here years ago and it is clearly less exiting. No lions anymore, most interesting probably the wolves. Would not pay again the price for this.

  • Amazing experience!! Must try it, lors of atrractions, and things to do. We spent about 5hours inside the safari park, and we are usually very fast at places like this. I do recommend to bring your own food for picnic, as for the food inside is only fast food.
  • Less than what I expected! The map you receive is useless, signals on the road are not clear at all! It was interesting to see Big Joe and the Dino’s garden! A day with no kids would be ideal, too much noise!
