Admire the best preserved moat castle in Europe at Egeskov Castle. Built by Frands Brockenhuus and completed in 1554, the castle contains 66 rooms, six bathrooms, and four different mazes within the gardens. Notice that the castle is built on oaken piles and surrounded by a 5 m (16 ft) lake. When it was constructed, the area was experiencing periods of civil unrest, so many noblemen built their homes to act as fortifications. Explore the Hunting and Yellow rooms on the ground floor, and the banquet hall, Rigborg, Victorian, music, tower, and admiral's rooms on the first floor. Be sure to stop at Titania's Palace, an intricate dollhouse containing more 3,000 components, constructed by Sir Nevile Wilkinson for his daughter. There's a family living in the castle at all times, so they only open from May in summer. The site has lots of activities to do, they have a garden that features flowers and plants of four seasons...

Must see place while in Denmark! Stunning castle on the water with a spacefull grounds and activities for all ages! Huge playgrounds for kids all ages, there is something for everyone. Cute pink car looking like carriage running around. So you can take a ride if you pay extra or take picture a free picture. Restaurant and few snack stands are available. Free riding bikes on the track for kids. Funny warning sign by the bridge, don't miss it. 😉 Benches are all over to your service and having a picnic on the grass is welcome as well. I recommend to visit website ahead of time and see if they have a special event for the day you going to visit castle. They have a lot of cool events throughout the year.

Huge place, worth a whole day visit! The castle is beautiful, one of a kind. Eclectic collections in the castle and the surrounding buildings offer something for everyone: whether you're into cars and motorcycles or dresses and hats and doll houses, you'll find something of your interest here. Large gardens are especially lovely in spring when everything is in bloom. There's a big playground for the kids, plus a hanging bridge and an amazing maze to get lost in for humans of all ages. For lunch, you can bring your own picnic basket, or choose something from the restaurant or kiosks on the site.
