you must stop at this very authentic small wine cave when you are in chateuneuf du Pape. this is the most authentic wine tasting you will have in chateuneuf. we stopped here on recommendation to visit places with Domaine in the name. a friendly and old sir welcomed us into a dusty cave without any appointment and allowed us to taste his traditional chateuneuf du Pape wines from his cellar. his wife came in soon after with their adorable old dog and started to explain how their wines differed from traditional wines on laminated paper that she had drawn with ballpoint pen. she educated us on the differences between production of new and old wines. she also let us try a 2007 wine that was aged in barrels for special occasions. we had to go before we could purchase anything but we won't forget her generosity. I would highly recommend you visit this wine cave for an authentic visit in chateuneuf du Pape.
