Criss-crossed by the canals of the River Lauch, Little Venice formerly served as the butcher's, tanner's, and fisherman's quarter. Originally a rural wine-producing community, commercial gardeners and fishermen inhabited the canal area, which is now the city center of the small town. You can charter a romantic boat to float around the canals and gain a picturesque perspective of the half-timbered houses. • Lovely looking place, not the biggest but has a bit of everything. Just a shame it proved to be a bit of a struggle in finding the boat place, so we gave up on it in the end. Although to be fair...

  • Really beautiful, stunning buildings with some interesting shops selling anything from Whisky to toy trains. Lovely to just stroll around and have a coffee or a meal. Check out the covered food...

  • Colmar is one of the most beautiful cities on the German-French border. It is very worthwhile to take the small train that travels between the important sites in the city plus explanations in 15 languages. Then you should just walk around the city streets and enjoy its stunning beauty
  • Definitely make sure you stop here! Beautiful little town and lots of interesting spots. Word of advise though, reserve a table to eat in advance. We went to 99% of the restaurants in the evening for something to eat and they were all fully booked. Finally found a open table on the outskirts of the old city.
