Centuries-old civilizations have left their mark at Saint-Laurent Archaeological Museum, which sits on the site of Saint-Laurent church. The building attracted the attention of archeologists after a 6th-century crypt was found there in the 19th century. However, the site was used for rites and rituals even before Christianity, making it one of France's most notable archeological finds. You'll see the remnants of pagan ceremonies on site, as well as later Christian artifacts. A visit to Saint-Laurent Archaeological Museum represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Grenoble day trip planning website to plot your vacation.

  • Haunting but beautiful. Please go with your friends otherwise it's a little bit scary if you are the only one in the museum. The background music and the projection of wandering monks on cave wall are quite...haunting. You can see the skeletons beneth your feet when you walk pass the transparent stairs. I got goose buns.
  • This little museum has an unbelievable amount of heart! Such a lovely little museum that is clearly well looked after. Everything from the main structures to the crypts and artifacts below are well explained and easily accessible. If this sort of museum is your jam then you definitely need to check it out. It’s quick and the audio guide is free!
