Made entirely of stone blocks--cut and assembled by hand, without the use of cement or mortar--Abbaye du Thoronet lies in forested hills between Draguignan and Brignoles. The abbey buildings, church, and cloisters were built from 1160 to 1190 and reflect the Ancient style of architecture. The compound also includes an adjoining chapter house, dormitory, storeroom, and cloisters. Wander the site at your leisure, or ask about a guided tour.
