Create an itinerary including Chateau des Baux de Provence
Chateau des Baux de Provence was built in the tenth century and ruled by the lords of Baux for 500 years, during great political conflicts. This site became famous for its minstrels and troubadours, who performed every day in the honor of the king. The kings of France finally conquered the castle in the 16th century, and King Louis XIII ordered its demolition. Today, the chateau houses three life-size replicas of war machines. Tourists can watch live, daily demonstrations of enormous catapults, including the biggest trebuchet in Europe. This machine could toss a 100 kg (220 lb) rock a distance of 180 m (200 yds). • Amazing views and the place is impressive! The castle has a lot of attractions like bows and arrows, stone sculpting and so many others. It has nice little shops and restaurants. It is totally worth the visit. If you are with young kids or older people it could be hard for them to walk at some parts but they can sit down and enjoy beautiful views
  • One of best castle ruins in a village we have visited. Outside the castle ruins, there is a plateau. When you walk up to the edges, a 270’ breathtaking view of the surroundings greets you. The walls of the ruins itself have been weathered to some extent which makes some of them look like honeycombs. The ruins extend quite a distance inside and there are 3 places which you can climb up to for better vantage point. For weaponry of medieval times, you can see several trebuchets and a battering ram on the castle grounds. Ticket are priced at EUR 8/adult, which is worth it. Spend a couple of hours here to enjoy the walk and climb. Soak in the history.
