Batterie Allemande de Longues-Sure-Mer
Located on the coast between the D-Day landing beaches Omaha and Gold, Batterie Allemande de Longues-Sure-Mer is the only battery where you can view original 150 mm (6 in) guns. In 1944, the Germans built the battery, which consisted of four navy guns, each protected by a large concrete casemate, a command post, shelters for personnel and ammunition, and several defensive machine-gun emplacements. The night before D-Day, the battery was heavily bombed. On D-Day, Allied forces landed on the beach. The next day, the Germans surrendered. From this strategic point on top of a cliff overlooking the channel, you'll have a terrific panoramic view of the landing beaches. This site is worth a visit, good on site parking with a tourist / visitor centre on site, it was closed at the time of our visit. The gun emplacements are quite impressive.

This place has a really impressive battery including cannons. You can walk behind the cannons and through the bunkers and het a glimpse of the view from there. If you follow the walking path, you'll find another big bunker which you can enter. This place has no toilet and is mostly suitable for wheelchairs, except the bunker farther down the walking path.

Good little site, free to enter, no real information, buy you can wonder fairly freely around four artillary bunkers and one (I assume) spotting/ranging bunker right on the cliff edge, all in pretty good nick. You can also see the Mulberry Harbour remains at Arromances beach. If you go to the Memorial at Caen there is a little model of a bunker that explains what all the little rooms were used for (mainly shell storage).
