An impressive collection of 50,000 objects at Musee de la Grande Guerre tells the story of the World War I, as well as its impact on society as a whole. Everyday objects, like first aid kits and stoves from the private collection of World War I expert Jean-Pierre Verne tell the story of past hardship. Innovative technology allows you to immerse all of your senses into the first World War with visual frescoes, hands-on objects, olfactory presentations, and ambient sounds. Whether you're most interested in tactics and strategy, daily life in the trenches, women's role in the war, or some other facet, you'll likely find a theme-based exhibit to explore. A visit to Musee de la Grande Guerre represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Meaux trip itinerary app to plot your vacation.

My wife and I went for the afternoon. Thought the layout was conducive to understanding what led up to the Great War from a France perspective. The tour started with a film taking visitors back in time to 1870. Thorough exhibits wrt preparing for war (alliances between France, Russia, & UK and Germany, Austria-Hungary, & Italy) and soldiers’ uniforms, and types of warfare (naval, air, trench). Interesting area dedicated to camouflage and role women played in supporting troops. If you’re in the Paris/Disneyland Paris area, definitely worth a visit.

Superb and highly informative museum! Great collection and nice visual presentations. Due to Covid there were very few visitors. Though most texts are in french, the main narrative of WWI can be understood through the english translations. Recommended.
