  • I am not a fan of the zoo, aquariums or any other places where any kind of animals get imprisoned. However, the Montpellier Lunaret park and zoo is a wide 80-hectare park with free entrance and the priority is to provide the best-simulated environment for animals that some of them are even endangered species. You can have a nice walk in nature and see some fantastic creatures along your path. There are two-three picnic places if you want to rest a bit. Also, there is a restaurant beside the zoo by the entrance for those who want to eat lunch or some snacks. You can spend a few hours or half a day in the zoo. By the way, you can go there by public transportation, there is a shuttle that you can take at tram 1 stop Université Sciences et Lettres to the Zoo (stop Zoo).
  • The reviews I had read were not the greatest for this zoo but we enjoyed our time there. We walked from the centre, which took about an hour. A small cafe outside the zoo was ideal for a coffee break before going in. Yes the animals are spaced out but that probably better for the animals. We saw many of the animals up close and it was a real treat to see the rhinos up close. It’s free, so if you are looking to do something for a few hours then it’s worth it.
