A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Place Stanislas is surrounded by some of Nancy’s best-known buildings, including city hall and the opera house. Visit this charming square with its grandiose fountains and wrought-iron gates for a sense of France in the 18th century. The square is named after King Stanislas Leszczynski of Poland in honor of his son-in-law Louis XV. At its center is a statue of its namesake created by Georges Jacquot: King Stanislas stands dressed in flowing robes, holding a sword in his left hand and pointing toward the north with his right. Light ochre stones pave the square, with two lines of darker stones forming a diagonal cross motif. Many festivals and assemblies are held here throughout the year. This place is worth a visit. Where to park your car can be difficult, especialy in the weekend. If you want to take pictures without the crowd, you better go before 9 AM.

Definitely a must visit when in that area. you can easily stay hours and look around at the gold plated astonishing buildings from centuries ago. There are Cafes to sit outside and enjoy a sunny day, the cathedral and a church in walking distance and a park to wander around. There is a parking garage near by, with really tiny spaces but def. worth while stopping there. There is also a Christmas market there so that is def. another great place to go during the Christmas season. So make sure Nancy is on your list of places to see in France

Beautiful square. It is very clean and well taken care of. It looks like it was build just yesterday, but it is there since more then 100 years. It has beautiful lighting at night. This summer there where beautiful lightshows on the buildings.
