  • The museum has a beautiful, vibrant exterior perfect for photo ops, and inside there is a lot to behold. I am not the biggest Matisse fan, but being able to see his work up close and view his style...

  • The museum has just about enough paintings and prints by the prolific Matisse and Hockney to justify an exhibition. Some real stinkers are in the collection, reminding us that these great artists are....  more

  • This was a lovely stop in Nice, more so for the experience as a whole and not based on the amount of Matisse’s work represented within. They did have more obscure pieces of his fabric work, furnishings, and stained glass in addition to the more well-known paper cut outs. The Villa it is housed in adds to the excursion immensely, and there is a park outside to have a lovely picnic in if you come prepared. There is no parking at the building, so we just drove around until we found a space.
  • Beautiful peaceful surroundings and gardens, friendly museum staff, David Hockney art on display, QR codes for English speaking information on each artwork, very enjoyable visit. Bus 33 from Nice town centre.
