Create an itinerary including Domaine Departemental de Sceaux
You will find Domaine Departemental de Sceaux in front of the Château de Sceaux, a grand country house that now houses an art museum. Landscape architect André Le Nôtre, Louis XIV's chief gardener, laid out the park. It once included terraced gardens, canals, an orangery, and a stone cascade that flows into an octagonal basin. During the French Revolution, the state confiscated the property and sold it. The new owner destroyed the original château and grew crops in the famed ornamental gardens. During Napoleon's reign, different owners restored the park to its original glory and built a smaller home on the site. Today, the park is open to the public. A visit to Domaine Departemental de Sceaux represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Sceaux trip itinerary builder website to plot your vacation.

  • Just majestic site! Great for walk, relax and escape from the busy Paris. Escape from reality as well, because it makes you feel in different time space or like in a movie decor. Huge and beautiful!
  • Beautiful park with a great many different areas, to make everybody happy: water ponds, waterfalls, shaded groves, vast lawn… The place I found most gorgeous was the « Bosquet Nord » (northern grove), boasting hundreds of cherry blossom trees. Wonderful at this time of year.
