Aqueduc du Plan ou de l'Horloge, St Chamas

Another nice village in the bag. The residents here are friendly. So, don’t be shy. They will even use Google Translate to have a conversation with you. 😁. We sat at this bistrot just beside Aqueduc du Pont de l’Horloge, while having our coffee. By the way, this aqueduct is in St. Chamas, not Miramas le Vieux. The owner of the bistrot said we could climb a flight of stairs to reach the top. She said the view would be spectacular. She was right. From the bridge we could see the marina and the whole bay. Climbing further up, we got an even greater view of the area, including St. Chamas village. Later we proceeded to walk up the cliff and there were houses actually built into the cliff. In summer, I am sure these residents will be saving a great deal on electricity for a/c. Hiking further up, there is Chapelle de la Vierge. It’s locked but the view from this point during sunset would be breathtaking. Later, we drove a short distance into La Digue. There is a restaurant by the sea with sitting area outside. Here, you can enjoy a drink or two while watching the yachts and people doing wind surfing. This place was worth the 1 hr drive. Note: Most bistrots, restaurants, cafes and tabacs are open 1/2 day, till noon only. With exception of the restaurant in La Digue.
