Bayerisches Nationalmuseum features a collection of decorative art, with strong representations from the medieval to early modern periods. The collection is split into two groups: folklore and historical art. Keep an eye out for the carved ivory, textiles, glass painting, and tapestry pieces, which are popular with visiting art enthusiasts. English isn't often offered in descriptions, so hire a tour guide if you'd like detailed information. • This museum's somewhat quaint name may suggest a certain parochialness, or alternatively, provincial braggadocio, but nothing could be further from the truth! For anybody interested in medieval...

  • Wow. A great museum! So many things to see. I spent 3 hours there and only did two out of the three floors and already then I was on a run. If you take your time in the museum, you can easily spend 5 hours or more. I have done a few museums in Munich and this is by far my favorite.
  • A true gem in the center of the city that helps tourist and locals understand a bit more of the history of Bavaria and the surrounding areas. A nice place to see pottery, weapons, jewellery, sculptures, religious artifacts, etc. Plus on Sunday the cost of entrance is only 1€.
