Famous for its red rock formations, Red Beach sits just steps from the site of an ancient Minoan settlement destroyed by a volcanic eruption and buried in ash around 1627 BCE. Blue waters lapping this beach create a striking contrast with the all-red landscape of the surrounding steep cliffs, which offer unobstructed views of the sea and the curving coastline. The small beach attracts hundreds of visitors each day, creating a lively resort atmosphere well into the evening hours. Two small cafes, cut into the volcanic cliffs just a short walk from the beach, offer cold drinks and light snacks. Fairly rocky with larger grains of sands which was expected. And it is admittedly reddish-dark brown in color, but certainly NOT what most people expect. A smaller beach but surprisingly uncrowded...

Very beautiful. But a lot of people is there, tons of boats are coming and staying. Go early if you want to sit on a bed (30€) otherwise the ground what you get. You can't go close to the stone wall because there is a fence. Sometimes big waves are coming and all your stuff is getting vet and it slips away. The bus stop is 20 min away by walk. Nice shops around and restaurants.

Not worthy. Beach is nothing special and potential risk of the rocks falling down. Umbrella and sunbath 8 euros. Until 10 can worth visit it but after 10am is crowded with people and boats. Water becomes dirtier. Vlichada beach is better option! If you come by bus don’t loose your time to come to this beach.
