Now a huge shopping mall, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was designed by architect Giuseppe Mengoni and built between 1865 and 1877. Often called "the living room of Milan" because of its importance as a popular meeting and dining place, this building is topped by a glass dome and features an exquisite mosaic floor. Considered one of the city's main landmarks, the mall is home to some of the region's oldest shops, as well as a number of modern, upscale boutiques, including Louis Vuitton and Prada. Choose from numerous cafes and restaurants that serve a wide range of foods for all budgets. This busy commercial building is also a good place to learn about the city's art and architecture, with several notable galleries spread across the mall's extensive grounds. Architecture is wonderful and worth a visit in itself to marvel at. Went in on a weekday in m August and it was extremely busy. Many restaurants had queues and the public areas were also very busy...

The Gallerias are definitely a must see. Even if just for a quick window shopping session and a picture in the middle (literally everyone has their phone out). All the shops are high end but there are a couple of nice ice cream shops. It’s right next to the Duomo so head on over after and walk around.

Well… It’s an Italian mall, and just that. About the scale of class you’d expect from quality shops adjacent to an incredible view of the breathtaking cathedral and other historical monuments; not to mention the architecture of the mall building itself. I’m quite certain few places in the world like it. Very beautiful! Some decent food around as well and the place for photo opportunities to say the least.
