Visit one of the most iconic landmarks in Rome, Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II. Located in the Piazza Venezia, the monument was erected in the late 19th century to honor the first king of unified Italy. The largest monument ever created out of Botticino white marble, it features Corinthian columns, a grand staircase, and several important sculptures. Admire the equestrian statue of Victor Emmanuel II that stands in the center. Visit the museum of Italian Unification in the base of the structure. • The monument is worth a look but there is not a lot to see inside and there are a lot of steps to climb. There is a cafe so at least you can stop for refreshments.

  • A must-see for a trip to Rome. Amazing place in the heart of the old town. Surrounded by monuments, basilicas contrasting with beautiful nature. A monumental building showing the power of the Roman Empire. Beautiful decorations, sculptures and views of old Rome and the Vatican. In the background the colosseum. Very clean, you can see that it is an important cultural point of Rome. I recommend that you see it with your own eyes even when passing through Rome.
  • The entrance is free and you can climb to the terrace from which you can see the whole city. There is also a small exhibition inside but a large part was closed, including the medium level terrace. There is an elevator which you can use to climb to the very top of the monument and it is totally worth it.
