  • This is one of the oldest churches in Rome founded around the year 340. It has been renovated over the years and very old pagan figures were removed and not very good murals were painted on the walls in the 19th century. Still worth a visit though. I enjoyed the visit and it was very busy which added to the atmosphere. The area of Trastevere is well worth a visit and is off the beaten track with winding narrow lanes filled with all manner of independent shops and plenty of small bars and restaurants. Take a good map as it is easy to lose your bearings, we had to ask a policeman to help us find our route to our crossing of the River Tiber
  • The basilica of our Lady in Trastevere is a real piece of art. You can spend hours in observing and appreciating the ceiling (check the photos). I spent an hour in this basilica and will go back again during my next visit to the eternal city of Rome. The surroundings are full of charm. This is one of the most charming areas in Rome. A lot of great restaurants!
