See the skeleton of the iconic Cedre Gouraud, once the largest cedar in the country named after the French general Henri Gouraud. The grey sign-posted trunk of the dead tree towers nearly 42 m (138 ft) above the surrounding area, cleared from other vegetation to make room for tourist shops. The tree died in 2003 at the estimated age of more than 800 years old. If you're prepared with comfortable shoes, snacks, and water, hike through the cedar forest. Keep an eye out, though, for cheeky Barbary macaques that might snatch a cell phone from your hands for sheer amusement.
