Visit the final resting place of a Moroccan king and his two royal sons at Mausoleum of Mohammad V, a national landmark of royal tombs and a mosque. Commissioned in 1962 to honor the life of Mohammed V, a ruler best remembered for his efforts in bringing independence to the country, the mausoleum was completed in 1971. Today, it also contains the tombs of King Hassan II and Prince Abdallah, Mohammed's two sons. The carved white exterior exudes an atmosphere of calm, carried on inside by the cool marble and granite interior, where a reader of the Quran sits reciting passages throughout the day. Make Mausoleum of Mohammad V a centerpiece of your Rabat vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Rabat trip itinerary planning site.

Historic site well worth visiting. Mohammed V did far more to save Jewish lives before, during, and after WWII than the U.S. and virtually all other countries. Impressive to see guards posted on...

I truly impressed by its beauty. The mausoleum is a stunning architectural masterpiece, with intricate carvings, beautiful mosaics, and majestic chandeliers. The mausoleum is also home to a beautiful mosque, which is open to visitors. The mosque is adorned with stunning mosaics and beautiful calligraphy, and the prayer hall is spacious and peaceful. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the Mausoleum of Mohammed V to anyone visiting Rabat. It's a beautiful and peaceful place to reflect on the rich history and culture of Morocco. The mausoleum is easily accessible and the staff are friendly and informative. It's definitely one of the highlights of Rabat and not to be missed.
