Nestled in a park setting at the heart of the city, the classically styled Crkva Svetog Marka recalls the region's medieval churches. Its two-colored facade was built in 1940 using local and ancient Byzantine techniques. The 1,150 sq m (12,380 sq ft) interior spaces can host up to 2,000 worshipers and 150 singers, and its basement contains a large crypt containing remains of numerous important Serbian personalities. See the lavish marble iconostasis and altar table and observe the mosaic icons that decorate a large portion of the interior. Don't miss the 14th-century remains of Tsar Dušan, under whose rule Serbia flourished, or the elaborate beehive modeled after the church. You can take photos of this massive church from the picturesque park above it. Make Crkva Svetog Marka a centerpiece of your Belgrade vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Belgrade trip planner.

We were walking past having gone to the nearby Air Serbia office. It is an impressive if soulless building. Not worth a special journey but stop in if you are passing.

St Marks is a nice young church, although all the focus of the government went to St. Sava. I think this is a good stop, but when you can only see one church, make it Sava.

The Church of St. Mark is located in the village of Pinosava, Voždovac municipality of the city of Belgrade and belongs to the Belgrade-Karlovica archbishopric. The Church of Saint Mark was built from 2002 to 2003 in the summer of the Lord and technically it is still not finished because it has not been painted. On the second day of Easter 2003, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle consecrated the foundations of this church. The work of building the church project was entrusted to the famous Serbian architect Predrag Ristic, and the iconostasis was painted by the painter Miroslav Lazović. The consecration of the crosses took place on September 21, 2004, and the first liturgy was celebrated on the 2005 temple celebration of the summer of the Lord. Since then, services have been held regularly. In Pinosava litia is held on the first Thursday after the feast of the Holy Trinity. I would highly recommend anyone who is able to visit this beautiful shrine, and I hope to start painting soon!
