Santa Eufemia Convent, Antequera

Consecrated to the patron saint of the city, this monastery was founded in 1601, although the church was built between 1739 and 1763. Its exterior presents the same sobriety as other Antequera monuments. Inside is the image of the patron saint and two altarpieces of some interest: the largest and that of the Virgen de los Dolores.

The Convent of Santa Eufemia, of Minimal Religious consecrated to Santa Eufemia, co-patron of the city of Antequera, was founded in the year 1601. The Convent of Santa Eufemia was built between 1739 and 1763. Externally it presents a graceful game of volumes and roofs, highlighting as a singular note the belfry and the suspended chapel of the titular Saint. Its octagonal plan has a great development in height, being hidden in its low façade bodies due to the attached volumes. The main chapel is crowned with a rococo-style plasterwork dome. Inside the Santa Eufemia Convent you can visit the Museum dedicated to Santa Euphemia.
