The old city meets the modern in Las Ramblas, a series of pedestrian streets lined by outdoor markets, shops, cafes, and restaurants. To stroll through this bustling district is to walk through the history and culture of one of the world’s most exciting urban centers. Celebrated poet Federico García Lorca once described it as "the only street in the world which I wish would never end." Famous for its throbbing urban energy, this colorful avenue and tree-lined walkway are one of the busiest areas in the city, so it’s not surprising that it’s constantly thronged by tourists. To avoid crowds, head down some of the smaller side streets, where you can find inexpensive souvenirs, friendly locals, and live music. Plan your visit to Las Ramblas and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Barcelona vacation planner.

Great place for a stroll and browsing. Lots of stall selling souvenirs and little cafes. Quite typical of a lot of latin type countries.

We enjoyed the Ramblas, wondering around the stalls and chatting to the stall holders. The prices were a bit high but we were expecting that. The cafés were interesting but the waiters pressured us...

This is the place to shop. Loads of different stores and department stores. It's very busy. Plenty of places to shop and grab a drink and good vibes. back street bars and markets. Food on the main stretch is pricey and busy. Personally I would rather find somewhere a little more quiter or carry on down to the harbor where there is less people. Be careful of pickpockets. Keep your belongings close to you and be aware of your surroundings.

Fun spot to visit. Market is close, tons of shops near by, and some of the best restaurants in Barcelona. The winding alleys are amazing.
