Admire fine 20th century works by one of Spain’s most beloved artists at Museu Picasso. The museum is housed in five medieval palaces and contains over 3,500 pieces of Picasso’s work. Observe Picasso’s evolution as an artist by seeing some of his childhood drawings as well as many of his later works. Pick up an audio guide at the entrance to hear background information on the pieces and the life of the artist. Not much Picasso…we paid for the audio guide and none of the numbers matched what we were looking at. Most of the museum is the history of a different person and various other artists.

Make sure to buy tickets in advance and to book a slot! If you’re going during the touristy season like I did, you could wait up to 30 minutes in line to get in but it is absolutely worth the try. It costs around 17€ for an all inclusive ticket plus 90 minutes audio guide. Alternatively, you can book a guided tour. There’s plenty to see, beautiful building, and a big gift store that has anything you need from a museum gift store. All in all, definitely a recommended activity if you’re into art.

Far more than you expect in this museum, you see Picasso’s journey from young artist to profound one. Plenty of material to read and plenty of pieces to look at. We spent a good 2 hours here. The best feature of this museum was the way it displayed the countless practice pieces or different versions of Picasso’s work, so you could see the development of a piece and the process behind it. Really enjoyed it. Book before
