All roads in Barcelona seemingly lead to Placa d'Espanya. Well, at least its major thoroughfares meet here. But the main draw remains the grand monuments that dot the square. Crane your neck at the 47 m (154 ft) Venetian Towers, wander the Arenas de Barcelona shopping center, inside a former Moorish Revival-style bullring, and, if the weather's right, kick back in Parc de Joan Miró, named after the renowned Catalán artist whose 22 m (72 ft) Woman and Bird statue sits on one of the park's corner. Ride an elevator to the top of the shopping center for views of the plaza. Put Placa d'Espanya and other Barcelona attractions into our Barcelona trip itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Plaza de Espana was built in 1929 for the Universal Exposition and since then it has been one of the main landmarks in Barcelona. There is a statue at the roundabout.
